For a number of years technology vendors have been discussing the benefits of de-coupled systems and how hotels can easily plug in best-of-breed systems into such platforms. From a technology perspective this is very exciting, but is it just as exciting for a "normal" hotel? Unless the hotel is part of a large hotel chain or group, they usually look for simplicity when handling their tech stack and rarely see it as a benefit to deal with multiple vendors. In that context, which role will the PMS play in ensuring that all those independent hotels can take advantage of new and sophisticated technology like AI?
